Facilitating Improved Fish Passage
Nahanni Construction was chosen in 2011 by the Department of Fisheries as the successful bidder to install rip rap weirs to facilitate improved fish passage through Wantsa Creek near Prince George BC.
Digging the Channel
Nahanni Construction handled this highly sensistive environmental project by digging a diversion channel around Wantsa Creek.
Coconut Matting in the channel
Coconut matting was installed in the channel to keep silt from entering the stream.
AQUA-DAMN
An aquadamn was used to divert the creek into the new channel
Installation of Rip rap weirs
Once the creek was diverted it allowed Nahanni to install the rip rap weirs. After installation the damn was released and the water allowed to flow through the main channel again.
